Role Description:

Define data or information architecture standards and data integration approaches, policies, and procedures for the organization, structure, attributes, and nomenclature of data elements and apply accepted data content standards to technology projects; Collaborate with subject matter experts and data stewards to identify current organizational data architecture and provide recommendations to ensure data integrity and quality, implement data governance policies, and consolidate disparate data sources into a central repository; Conduct research on agency and industry best practices on data management and provide recommendations and solutions for configuration of ingested structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data repositories based on findings to key stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within related field
  • 10 or more years of experience in management information systems, computer science, data science, or related field
  • Minimum Education/Experience: A combination of higher education and experience that comprises 10 years
  • Demonstrated expertise with data management concepts and activities, including industry best practices for data sourcing, key data elements, data quality management, metadata, or Enterprise Data Management (EDM) policy, process, and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation expertise
  • Strong consulting and interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in management information systems, computer science, data science, or related area from an accredited academic institution
  • 10 or more years of experience with progressive data modeling, data architecture, and database administration
  • Experience with creating new data architectures to support enterprise needs from data marts to cloud-based applications
  • Experience in facilitating information discovery sessions with business leaders to extract requirements, appropriate terminology and context
  • Ability to work within standardized and non-standardized processes to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Ability to ensure the business and technical architecture of the delivered solution matches customer technical and functional requirements and commit to customer success while communicating to internal and external business partners
  • Knowledge of developing standardized data vocabularies across large organizations and multiple business units, data issue identification, analysis, and remediation
  • Experience with working in Agile environments
  • Experience with HRIS and LMS systems
  • Ability to work across multiple domains
  • Experience with evaluating current data structures and databases to facilitate the development and transition to a new data architecture
  • Ability to learn new technologies and translate them into working software
  • Experience with evaluating current data architectures and databases to create a future state cloud architecture
  • Knowledge of security principals in developing a data lake architecture
  • Familiar with Oracle, SQL, mySQL, and Access
  • Data Architecture Certification preferred
  • Experience working in the Intelligence Community and/or Department of Defense
