Job Summary: Social Work Therapist is responsible for providing short-term and intense child sexual trauma focused therapy to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

 

Essential Job Function:

  • Able to conduct treatment intervention within the home and/ or office.
  • Responsible for the formulation of clinical assessments of referred clients in accordance with established clinical procedures and in collaboration with each client and family.
  • Will collaborate with case manager/resource specialist in planning for/and securing community-based services for client/family.
  • Responsible for completion of outcome measurement tools.
  • Maintain records of all clients/ family & collateral contacts according to the regulations of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
  • Enter all progress notes and other case information in the web-based monitoring system.
  • Clinician will be trained and will need to demonstrate competence in therapeutically addressing child sexual abuse trauma with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Flexibility in coordinating work schedule to meet the needs of client/ family.
  • Crisis intervention including 24-hour/ 7 days week availability through agency cell phone.
  • Attend interagency meetings (including client-specific meetings at schools, hospitals, etc.)
  • Participate in clinical case conference and staff meeting in accordance to clinical procedures.
  • Represent the Center for Healing at community functions.
  • Participation in intervention utilization review process according to clinical procedures as mandated by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
  • Collaborate with the host agency to facilitate inter-agency treatment planning and networking. 
  • Attend on-going clinical supervision.
  • Staff will be trained in child sexual abuse trauma prevention and clinical service provision; and will have to demonstrate proficiency in working with this population within a reasonable amount of time.

Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:

  • Candidate has to possess a MSW from an accredited School of Social Work.
  • Candidate has to be licensed to practice in New York State.
  • Past experience working with individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • English proficiency in writing skills necessary in order to fulfill state and city regulations for maintaining client records.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish a plus.
  • Minimum one year working in children’s treatment services.
  • Hours must be flexible and basic hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Expectations are that Social Worker is available for evening and weekend work at least 2 nights per week. 

 

Required Certification/Licensing:

  • LMSW from the State of New York required
  • LCSW from the State of New York is preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to frequently communicate with clients who have inquiries about services that you are providing. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
