Our client, Ascot Underwriting (Bermuda) Limited, is seeking an FP&A Analyst. This position will be focused on supporting the business through planning, reporting and evaluation of strategic opportunities. Additional efforts will be required to support local, group and external (investor/ratings) requirements as they develop. This role will work closely with the underwriters, functional owners, Bermuda management, UK and US finance, FP&A and MI teams across the group.


The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple disparate data sources, understand financial trends, create clear reporting views and communicate outputs and drivers effectively across multiple interested parties.


Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage the planning process for multiple cost and profit centers including both underwriting and expense plans across multiple entities and branches
  • Build a strong working relationship with each business and functional leader to help inform and guide strategic opportunities
  • Analyze monthly/quarterly results for Bermuda profit centers, including MD&A style reporting
  • Assist finance with the close process including accruals, expense account and cost center mappings
  • Communicate close results to the PC and segment heads
  • Produce/contribute/communicate reporting packs for Management/Entity/External purposes
  • Work with other functional areas (actuarial, operations, reinsurance, IT, HR, compliance/legal, etc.) to make sure business has the data, reporting tools and support necessary to be successful
  • Assist with regular management reporting including submission, rate/retention, premium, reinsurance, expenses/T&E, commissions, allocations, and other required KPI’s
  • Incorporate MDM (Master Data Management) principles to all reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with finance and IT on various IT related projects such as BI, planning (implementations, reporting, analysis, testing)
  • Contribute to the plan tool build out for the US/Bermuda
  • Ad-hoc projects
Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree; accounting or finance major preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience in the P&C re/insurance sector
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • US GAAP accounting experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to independently complete tasks with tight deadlines, with a strong sense of urgency
  • Effective problem-solver; strong multitasking skills and detail-orientation
  • Proficiency with financial systems and planning tool experience is preferred. Experience specifically with SUN, InforQ&A, Phinsys, Cognos or Anaplan beneficial
