Role Summary:

The human resource manager is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated functional groups. This position carries out responsibilities in the following areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, benefits administration, affirmative action and employment law compliance. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains positive employee relations including resolving employee issues
  • Provides advice and coaching at various levels
  • Stays up to date on all applicable regulatory issues and serves as a legal compliance resource
  • Maintains accurate files and records including employee files and data base systems.
  • Conducts investigations as needed and with appropriate management/supervisory partners
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Draft for approval, administer and interpret company departmental policies and procedures
  • Responsible for reporting of applicable department or business unit metrics
  • Participates in recruiting and interviewing process as applicable
  • Actively participates as part of the HR Operations team and business unit operations team
  • Serves as backup to other members of the HR team including the Senior HR Manager and provides direction to HR Representative or HR Administrator
  • Serves as primary solutions group contact for temporary agencies for order fulfillment and other issues as they arise
  • Conducts and continuously improves new employee assimilation in conjunction with supervisors and shift teams, including participation in employee relations and disciplinary discussions
  • Administers routine activities such as promotional increases, performance reviews, invoices, as well as other HR activities
  • Participates and supports Cascade Enterprise System continuous improvement lean goals and activities
  • Understands systems and processes within Cascade Engineering with focus on continuous improvement
  • Frequent use of HRIS systems and computer applications including Taleo applicant tracking, ICON, Kronos, safety management programs, MQ1, Outlook, Microsoft Office and other applicable systems
  • Provides effective counsel and mediation on education/development/career path issues
  • Possesses working knowledge of workers compensation laws and issues
  • Facilitates problem-solving teams and committees
  • Maintains accurate health and safety records and participates in safety initiatives
  • Instrumental in planning and implementing business unit changes and improvements
  • Facilitates communication within business unit including leading monthly shift meetings
  • Ability to navigate Power Point and Excel.
  • Assists with reward/recognition programs and events
  • Participates in HR Forums as appropriate

Minimum Education, Experience and Competency Requirements:

  • HR experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or other related field with 3-5 years of experience, Associates Degree with 5+ years of experience
  • SHRM CP or PHR certification
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations and laws
  • Background in legal compliance and HR policies & procedures
  • Ability to work with above referenced computer systems
  • Highly developed level of interpersonal and communication skills including ability to create and present presentations, draft business unit and department communications, and external communications

Preferred Education, Experience and Competency Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years' experience
  • SHRM S-CP or SPHR certification
  • Experience working with temporary employees and agencies
  • HRIS software experience
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
