Role Summary: 

Responsible for quality, cost, and delivery of products produced by the production team through training, coaching and development. Responsible for individual, team and co-leader development, and accountability including technical capabilities.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for employee safety and environmental compliance
  • Deliver on established KPI’s including reduced turnover and overtime, improved overall equipment effectiveness related to machine downtime, and increasing on time delivery and schedule throughput.
  • Plan production to meet customer demands while maintaining high product quality.
  • Responsible to deliver all important and relevant communication via pre shift meetings, shift meetings and incoming/outgoing shift meetings.
  • Work closely with plant management and support departments to ensure company goals and polices are implemented.
  • Enforce and administer company policies, with HR partners, giving timely and appropriate performance feedback in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Maintain employee records via payroll/time and attendance systems, approve employee vacation requests.
  • Ability to navigate and understand ERP/ MES systems and payroll systems such as Kronos.
  • Coach and mentor new and existing employees, create a team environment that emphasizes inclusiveness and accountability.
  • Ensure all employee training and progression documents are completed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with supporting departments regarding employee pay or benefits issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining housekeeping and safety conditions, reviews all accidents/incidents paperwork for accuracy and completes investigations as required, involve support departments as needed.
  • Optimize workstation layout for maximum efficiency and ergonomics, ensure workstation has proper tools
  • Emphasize and show commitment to continuous improvement by eliminating variation in the production process, and implementation of improvements.
  • Owns lean Flow Cell management initiatives for plant work cells.  Monitors and adjusts production process to improve quality of product or processes.
  • Support the implementation of lean methodologies.
  • Provides leadership and support for new launches and the achievement of company goals and objectives.
  • Leads rapid improvement events, projects, A 3’s, and other continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives.
  • Leads Mission Center Room metrics review meetings proficiently.
  • Participate or lead root cause problem solving activities.
  • Collect and analyze data to generate reports and make decisions.
  • Participates in leadership forums and leadership development classes.
  • Ensures compliance to quality standards (IATF16949), work instructions, and procedures.
  • Other duties as identified or assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements: 

  • High School diploma/GED
  • 5+ years supervising, coaching and developing staff
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, conflict management/resolution skills
  • Demonstrated team building, coaching, training, and counseling skills
  • Proficient in modern problem solving methodologies
  • Experience with the implementation of lean principles and procedures
  • Strong communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of quality systems (TS16949), ERP & MES & Quality Systems
  • Large degree of self-initiative and ability to work with minimal direction

Preferred Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements: 

  • Advanced Degree with 7+ years of experience supervising, coaching and developing staff.
  • LSS Green or Black Belt
  • Sound understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Experience working in a Toyota Production System (TPS) environment including the implementation of Heijunka, 6S, Line and workflow balancing, Kanban, predictive maintenance, Gemba, etc.
  • Experience and understanding of plastic properties and behavior under molding condition, and plastic injection molding equipment.
  • Experience in completing process documentation, experience in process control, and first piece approvals and quality documents.
  • Experience in supporting Technical team in activities such as color changes, mold changes, writing deviations, and other processing tasks.
