SR. QUALITY ENGINEER 

           Job Summary

Utilize technical skills to develop and coordinate systems and procedures to ensure optimum quality in new product launches and for the implementation of ongoing quality improvements.

  To support the manufacturing operation, product development and our customer’s requirements the Quality Engineer will perform the duties as defined in the Advanced Quality Planning, and / or Plant Quality areas as described below. A Quality Engineer may be assigned duties in some or all of the defined roles.

  1. Primary Responsibilities:

    1. Advance Quality Planning

      1. Participate as a key member the core launch team from product kick off on new programs through the entire lifecycle of the parts - responsible for all advance quality elements as defined in the CK Technologies procedures.

      2. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with customer quality and engineering representatives on each program assigned.

      3. Become the CK Technologies expert on the Advanced Quality Planning process for the specific customers assigned. Fully implement customer specific requirements in all aspects.

      4. Champion the FMEA (Failure Mode and effects analysis) process with capability to facilitate a cross functional FMEA meeting. Update FMEAs and control plans in reaction to any issues or concerns.

      5. Implement prototype, pre-launch, production control plan process.

      6. Develop gages, gage instructions with input from the customer. Train quality associates in the correct use of gages.

      7. Identify quality resource and capital requirements for all programs.

      8. Perform and document initial capability studies for new programs and changes as required.

      9. Implement and follow up corrective actions for issues related to PPAP approval including; preproduction quality or engineering issues utilizing problem solving tools such as Pareto Charts, Trend Charts, Root Cause Analysis, 8D’s, etc.

      10. Coordinated the collection of all data required for customer PPAP approval in a timely manner. Prepare paperwork and obtain customer approval for the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) packages for assigned programs, including both new programs engineering changes. Obtain all required customer sign-offs for boundary samples, appearance approvals, fit and function approvals…etc. Obtain interim PPAP’s and deviations as required to meet program timing.

      11. Perform the required quality functions as per the Launch Manual

      12. Conduct and oversee all necessary product validation testing and certification of new programs and engineering changes.Ensure performance reports are issued as required.

      13. Assist the customer in developing the quality standards during the launch of the specific product.

      14. Implementation of statistical methods and their application. Potential applications may be DOE (Design of Experiments), correlation studies, capability studies, gage repeatability and reproducibility (gage R & R), X-bar and R charts, etc.

      15. Participate on Value Analysis Teams in the identification and resolution of production improvements.

      16. Determine the relative importance of purchased material quality characteristics and the required quality levels as they relate to design, manufacturing, and reliability requirements.

      17. Ensure adequate delineation of quality requirements to suppliers through the Purchasing Department.Designate the quality characteristics to be measured and methods/procedures for performing quality evaluations, including PPAP submissions, inspection, and test equipment.

      18. Supervise 1-5 Quality department associates.

    2. Plant Quality

      1. Evaluate and diagnose internal and customer quality issues. Initiate and lead 8d teams to resolve such issues and report progress internally and to customer.

      2. Visit customers on a proactive basis to understand and prevent quality issues, establish good working relationships and minimize PPM’s.

      3. Visit customers as required for problem follow up and resolution.

      4. Utilize and train associates in statistical methods and tools for problem solving and process control.

      5. Support the manufacturing floor relative to quality issues from internal processes or suppliers.

      6. Conduct TS internal audits, quality audits, 5s audits.

      7. Complete reports and analysis of quality trends at customers, internal quality levels, containment or other metrics as needed.

      8. Complete warranty analysis and reports in the customer prescribed format. Initiate corrective actions to warranty issues.

      9. Feedback quality and warranty information to the launch team’s inclusion in FMEA’s and control plans.

      10. Train quality auditors and other associates in Quality standards and methods as required.

      11. Coordinate, conduct and analyze outside testing as needed to identify and resolve quality issues.

      12. Support Supplier and outsource quality function as needed. Including performing supplier audits.

      13. Complete dimensional layouts and testing as needed.

         

    3. Education / Experience

      1. Bachelor of Science degree preferred.Will consider experience in lieu of degree.Should possess knowledge of statistics and blueprint reading.Computer literate.
