Position: Dietitian Assistant

 

What You'll Do: As a Dietitian Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in screening patients for nutrition risk, updating nutrition profiles, and adjusting patient menus under the direction of the registered dietitian.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year experience in food service or related fields to contribute effectively to the team.
  • Skills:
    • Utilize strong English language skills for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
    • Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and colleagues.
    • Communicate proficiently with patients and their families of diverse ages.
    • Apply knowledge of diet therapy, nutrition screening, and modified diets.
    • Use computer skills for data entry.
    • Calculate formula nutrients accurately.
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Enrollment in Nutrition classes preferred.
    • LA County Fire Card.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Responsibilities:
    • Screen patients for nutrition risk and update records in the Kardex.
    • Maintain and update clinical nutrition records to reflect physician diet orders, patient allergies, food preferences, and risk levels.
    • Modify patient menus based on prescribed diets.
    • Perform calorie counts and visit patients for food preferences.
    • Accurately document responsibilities using hospital computer systems.
  • Professional Development and Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in continuing education to support professional development goals and stay informed of recent research and literature.
    • Contribute to the development and upkeep of department policies and procedures.
    • Engage in departmental performance improvement activities to enhance patient care and outcomes.
