POSITION:   NON-TENURE TRACK LECTURER, POSITION IN MUSIC, DANCE & THEATRE, 12 MONTHS

JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Music, Dance, and Theater invites applications for a full-time NTTP faculty Lecturer appointment commencing September 3, 2024 to teach at New Jersey City University (NJCU) William J. Maxwell College of Arts & Sciences. This is a 12-month position carrying a minimum of 30 credits hours and a maximum of 33 credit hours teaching load.

The successful applicant will be required to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels based on departmental needs.  Alongside instructional responsibilities, the successful candidate will have responsibility for ensemble coordination and will direct and/or supervise jazz ensembles, including big bands, combos, and specialized groups. They will arrange performances, including on-campus concerts, off-campus gigs, and tours, and facilitate auditions and recruitment for jazz ensembles. Additionally, the successful candidate will also have program administration responsibilities for the jazz studies program and will also be expected to lead community engagement efforts that relate to the jazz program (e.g., outreach, partnerships, collaborations). Candidates with experience in effectively teaching courses in jazz performance, history, theory, and improvisation is preferred and are encouraged to apply.

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Jazz Performance, or a related field.
