About the role

Working as part of our Commercial Team, our new Business Development & Contract Specialist will be responsible for growing V/Line’s commercial operations by managing revenue contracts, identifying and delivering new business opportunities. Working collaboratively across business units and with external partners, you’ll ensure commercial arrangements are well managed, deliver value, and align with V/Line’s strategic objectives.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Drive growth in non‑fare revenue through cross‑functional collaboration, external stakeholder engagement, commercial negotiation and financial modelling.
  • Deliver high‑quality data analysis to support business cases, including financial and non‑financial cost‑benefit assessments.
  • Support effective management of revenue contracts, including financial monitoring, reporting, and oversight of commercial rights and obligations.
  • Assist with procurement activities by evaluating cost and savings impacts during tender processes, including “should‑cost” analysis.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to deliver cost efficiencies.
  • Monitor and manage revenue and partnership contracts, ensuring KPIs are measured, met & reported, as well as resolving routine issues prior to escalation.

 

About you 

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following key selection criteria within their application, as this forms part of our merit-based recruitment process:

  • Must have 3+ years’ experience successfully working in contract management and analysis
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills (internally and externally), to drive growth and overall financial outcomes
  • Proven experience conducting financial and non-financial analysis to support business cases and optimise revenue
  • Established experience performing detailed data, finance and business analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead recurring meetings with vendors
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline
  • Relevant industry experience across Transport, Manufacturing, Heavy Assets etc (highly desirable)

 

Salary for this position is commensurate to the successful candidate’s aligned skills and experience to the position.
