About the role
As our new Procurement Manager – Strategic Sourcing, you will play an integral role in the success of V/Line’s Corporate Services Group.
You will deliver strategic sourcing outcomes through market analysis, commercial negotiations, effective risk management, technical competency, and lead stakeholder engagement throughout the broader business. The role will focus predominately on V/Line’s Network and Asset Management division.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple categories.
Develop and implement procurement strategies that drive cost savings, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.
Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align procurement outcomes with organisational goals.
Conduct market analysis, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiations to secure optimal outcomes.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
Manage supplier relationships, performance reviews, and contract governance to drive continuous improvement.
Provide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team, fostering a high-performance culture.
About you
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Must have 5+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing within Heavy Asset industries, either locally, nationally or internationally (Rail/Mining/Utilities/Energy/Manufacturing)
Proven experience with procurement governance, risk management and contract negotiation
Demonstrated experience successfully managing/utilising an ERP (SAP/Coupa/Zycus)
Established experience successfully managing a procurement team
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues, build productive relationships with stakeholders and influence outcomes
Experience within the Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB) framework. (highly desirable)
