This position will oversee major asset maintenance programs that directly impact the safety, performance and reliability of our rail network. About the role

The Director, Asset Management & Performance at V/Line is a pivotal senior leadership role, responsible for the strategic oversight of major asset maintenance programs. This position ensures the successful delivery of the Annual Works Plan (AWP) and Major Periodic Maintenance (MPM) through effective collaboration with Infrastructure and Projects Functions. As the custodian of V/Line’s assets, the Director will oversee ISO 55001 compliance and drive initiatives in asset intelligence and data management. This role is crucial for optimising asset performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead the Asset Management Team: Engage and motivate the team to meet strategic objectives and foster continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on asset management initiatives.
  • Strategic Vision Development: Create and implement a strategic vision for the asset maintenance program that aligns with organisational goals.
  • Annual Works Plan Ownership: Oversee the development and execution of the asset management annual works plan, managing financial outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Champion ISO 55001 Compliance: Promote and ensure adherence to ISO 55001 principles for ongoing accreditation and best practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with asset management activities through robust processes.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage budget allocation, cost control, and financial reporting to optimise spending while maintaining asset reliability.

 

 

 

About you

The Director, Asset Management & Performance role requires a strategic leader who can effectively manage large-scale asset maintenance programs while ensuring alignment with organisational goals. This position demands a deep understanding of infrastructure maintenance and management and the ability to connect asset management initiatives with operational performance needs. The ideal candidate will be adept at fostering collaboration among teams and stakeholders, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

 

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

·        Tertiary Qualification: Relevant degree in Engineering, Business, a related field or equivalent experience.

·        Proven Experience: Extensive background in managing rail infrastructure and asset maintenance programs.

·        Leadership Skills: Strong ability to coach and mentor teams to enhance performance.

·        Analytical Insight: Capacity to provide strategic recommendations for future asset development.

·        Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with asset management standards and best practices.

·        Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.

·        Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of budget management and cost control.
