SUMMARY

JCCA is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Pleasantville Cottage School Program as a Child-Focused Recruiter.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating the matches of foster children with appropriate families for adoption by utilizing the Child-Focused Recruitment strategy, also known as Wendy’s Wonderful Kids. This strategy focuses exhaustively on an individual child’s history, experiences and needs in order to find a loving and committed family.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with Social Workers, Case Managers and other team members, will be the driving force for recruiting pre-adoptive families for youth in need of permanent resources and supporting youth and families through the matching and adoption process
  • Performs both field and office work in handling recruitment activities for the agency, which involves extensive outreach, education, and recruitment efforts regarding an identified caseload of children awaiting adoption or a permanent adult connection.
  • Develops an initial written assessment of each child, and provides updated assessments quarterly to enhance the child-focused plan; assesses the child’s strengths, challenges, desires, preparedness for adoption and whether the child has needs that should be addressed before moving forward with the adoption process; collaborate with case planning teams to stay updated on the most current information about youth.
  • Conduct ongoing diligence search for potential pre-adoptive homes, including, but not limiting to: familiar circles of family, friends, neighbors and Networking with JCCA’s Community Partners
  • Assess family/youth strengths and needs, provide appropriate referrals as needed to support family functioning and provide adoption readiness counseling to potential resources.
  • Complete progress notes and submit to supervisor in accordance with JCCA policies

QUALIFICATIONS

This opportunity will provide a qualified professional with the significant and fulfilling job opportunity to support and assist a child to find his/her “forever home”. The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of social work, counseling, psychology, sociology, child & family studies, human services or related field. Master's degree HIGHLY preferred
  • Previous child welfare experience, preferably in foster care
  • Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, case documentation, and strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse work environment and community
  • Bilingual English/Spanish HIGHLY preferred

Salary: $45K - $50K
