Pursuits Manager, Transportation & Infrastructure – National Team, In-Depth Training and Career Growth

We are seeking a Pursuits Manager to join our Transportation & Infrastructure Proposal Team. As a successful hire, you will be tasked with ensuring that strategic proposals are delivered to a high standard and in a timely manner for Senior Managers working on select projects for WSP’s Transportation & Infrastructure Business Line. The Pursuits Manager sits within the Proposal Team and is dedicated to assigned strategic growth initiatives, sectors and/or accounts. To be chosen for this role, you must have prior experience in proposal development, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. A high level of attention to detail and an ability to meet deadlines are both important keys to success in this role. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement research and research analytics.
    • Leverage actionable intelligence on Sector(s), Account(s), opportunities, competitors and potential partners.
    • Understand and present insights for team structuring; strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, approach to compete and win.
    • Expand our knowledge of peer performance key lessons, priorities, comparisons through internal and external debriefs.
  • Lead proposal response efforts to ensure that submission documents are complete and fully responsive to the bid documentation, including: 
    • Anticipate the likely response of competitors and to seek to positively differentiate the WSP offering. 
    • Lead and/or support in proposal strategy and review meetings, coordinating information across disciplines to ensure all submissions are uniform and coherent. Ensure all deliverables are underway and appropriately staffed across the business and with external partners. 
    • Develop a proposal outline document, schedule/facilitate contributions of all parties, ensure RFP compliance, draft standard proposal sections, facilitate reviews, and perform quality control on final documents.
    • Writing proposal sections as required: including executive summaries, project descriptions (qualification summaries), matrices.
    • Review, edit and prioritize the selection of projects, resumes and references.
    • Organize the necessary and appropriate management reviews during the proposal process, including the presentation of milestone updates and peer reviews and internal governance.
    • Ensure that a high quality and compliant proposal is submitted on time.

 

Ideal qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of experience in proposal development or similar environment. Candidates with previous experience working in Engineering Consulting or Professional Services firms are preferred. Work with Alternative Delivery projects, and a strong understanding of delivery models is an asset. 
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills to the executive level with the ability to concisely and clearly communicate win-strategies in a compelling manner.
  • A curious and creative mindset with a strong internal desire to innovate and improve, with a proven record of taking initiative and working with a limited formal structure. 
  • A self-motivated team member, who demonstrates initiative to go above and beyond the task at hand, can effectively multitask and who is capable of handling shifting priorities within a demanding deadline-orientated environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, working towards common goals and objectives. 
  • Flexibility to work overtime to meet proposal deadlines as required.
  • Strong English language and writing skills – including attention to detail and ability to write, proofread and edit material, as well as an aptitude for understanding technical terminology. Technical writing background is an asset. 
  • Strong computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office; Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and Photoshop, and Sharepoint Online is desirable.
