EDMONTON

 

WSP is looking for an Electrical Contract Administrator / Designer to join our team in the Edmonton, Alberta office. The successful candidate should be familiar with a variety of institutional, municipal, healthcare, commercial, and light industrial building projects.  The successful individual will be responsible for design, tender and construction services on various projects. This position will have scope and freedom to satisfy the most ambitious, career-minded and technically savvy person.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for taking design projects from start to finish
  • Electrical design of power distribution, control, communication, lighting, fire alarm and security
  • Technical calculations and software use for lighting analyses, load calculations, arc flash, fault & coordination studies, power system design
  • Applying a high level of technical and professional electrical engineering and consulting expertise 
  • Responsibility for ensuring the output of the design meets the established project criteria and all applicable standards
  • Responsible for researching and implementing new technology designs as mandated by clients and the Electrical Engineering Manager.  
  • Utilize industry specific software and related technologies in design and analysis (AutoCAD, REVIT, etap, AGI)
  • Proficient with the Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code – 2019 Alberta Edition, IESNA Standards
  • Contract administration that includes, but not limited to answering RFIs, COs, Progress Claims, Site Reviews, Fire Alarm Verifications
  • Other duties as assigned/required.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A member of ASET or APEGA
  • LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are considered assets
  • 7+ years of experience in consulting electrical design engineering for buildings 
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office, electrical design software, and experience with AutoCAD drafting are required.  Proficiency with Revit is considered an asset
  • Attention to detail, hard working and eager to learn.
