LETHBRIDGE OR AREA, ALBERTA

 

Through the success of our Lethbridge office, we have expanded our operations and are seeking a highly motivated Land Development Professional who resides in the region or is willing to move to the community and contribute to the growth of our team.

Reporting to the Southern Region Manager, this position includes participation on Land Development projects from concept and planning stages to detailed design, approvals and engineering support during Construction.  This experience intended to serve as the foundation for your Land Development career at WSP.

The position will provide the opportunity to work directly with clients, contractors and the community, work in a fast-paced environment, and use your skills to problem solve and grow your career in a collaborative team environment. In the process of this you will play a key role in engineering projects for residential, institutional, commercial and industrial developments. Project ranging from entirely new urban residential communities to site development for all range of projects.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completing preliminary design and high level servicing reviews and writing design basis and servicing memoranda;
  • Preparing and contributing to reports, planning documents, drawings, specifications, and tender documents; providing support throughout the tender process; providing technical support during construction;
  • Executing detailed design of rough grading, surface works, water distribution, storm & sanitary sewers, stormwater management, lot grading, and coordination of stakeholders and shallow utilities;
  • Contributing to proposal development and preparing engineering quotes;
  • Using problem solving skills and engaging other project team members to address design and construction challenges;
  • Perform field reviews and site meetings during construction including CCC/FAC inspection and documentation and on-site safety observations;
  • Develop your project management skills under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers;
  • Manage and train junior engineers and technologists, actively supporting their career development;
  • Assist with Business Development and foster growth of the local operations.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee, or eligibility for registration with APEGA in either designation is required;
  • 5 -12+ years of related experience;
  • Ideal Candidates have technical expertise using design tools including Civil 3D, Builterra, AutoTurn and other civil design tools;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Team leadership skills including collaboration and interpersonal abilities;
  • Comfortable in working independently in both an office and field environment;
  • Construction related experience would be considered an asset;
  • A Valid driver’s license is required for this position.
