WSP is currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Renewables group, preferably located at our Calgary or Vancouver offices, other locations within our Canada offices are also a possibility.  Reporting to the national energy structural team Lead, this position will be mainly responsible for performing structural design of wind turbine foundations including calculations, preparation of drawings and specifications as well as on site construction supervision and some project management tasks. As part of his role and based on its previous experiences, he/she might also participate to the design of hydraulic structures, hydroelectric facilities, solar racking and foundations, and other infrastructure associated with renewable energy projects. Versatile and highly motivated candidates with proven expertise in the design of reinforced concrete structure and experience in construction supervision will be prioritized.


  • Use state of the art finite element modeling software to model and analyse reinforced concrete elements and soil/structure interaction of Wind Turbine Generator structure;
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs and specifications for wind turbine foundations;
  • Ensure design compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes, as well as internal QA/QC procedures;
  • Prepare calculations or designs using software packages;
  • Oversee and guide the preparation of civil/structural drawings for construction;
  • Support construction services including: site visits, inspections and contract administration;
  • Project management;
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Structural engineering or equivalent;
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the APEGA and or APEGS;
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of engineering design experience;
  • Experience in dynamic structure, post-tensioning and fatigue resistance of materials will be considered an asset;
  • Experience in Wind Turbine foundation design will be considered an asset;
  • Experience in infrastructure associated with renewable energy projects, including hydropower, will be considered an asset;
  • Field experience in site monitoring or contract admin for construction of renewables project considered an asset;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
