WSP is currently seeking an Engineer, Planner or Technologist who is looking for an opportunity to contribute to a team that plans and designs urban mobility solutions.

The Transportation Planning Department offers planning and engineering services for a full spectrum of transportation challenges. These include but are not limited to: Active transportation planning and design, transportation demand management (TDM) transit planning, Environmental Assessments (EA’s), regional and area transportation studies, site specific transportation assessments, parking studies, traffic signing and travel demand forecasting and analysis. 

Our Transportation Planning staff participate in cutting-edge projects such as complete streets, pedestrian, trail and bikeway, planning for autonomous vehicles and shared mobility, micro-mobility, Vision Zero, design-build and P3 assignments


  • Applying best practices and participation in identifying innovative solutions in master planning assignments, engineering analyses and studies as required for the planning, design and implementation of transportation, transit and traffic projects;

  • Preparing and contributing to transportation studies;

  • Liaison with project team members regarding project requirements;

  • Working with a multi-disciplinary team including transportation/traffic engineers, planners, designers, and landscape architects;

  • Preparation of graphics, technical memos, and reports to communicate technical results and recommendations, site plan reviews and design modifications;

  • Attending and participating at client and public meetings;

  • Participating in field study programs (site visits, inventories, pedestrian, cycling, trail, transit, traffic, and parking counts); and

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Degree in Transportation Engineering, Planning or an Engineering Technologist Diploma;

  • Eligible for P. Eng. License from the Professional Engineers of Ontario or Registered Professional Planner (RPP) from the Ontario Professional Planning Institute or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation;

  • 3-7 years’ experience in the preparation of active transportation, traffic engineering/transportation planning reports and studies;

  • Able to demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills and proficient using Microsoft Office;

  • Experience or knowledge of basic roadway, pedestrian and bikeway design;

  • Ability to work in a team environment;

  • Strong experience with at least one of the following ArcGIS, AutoCAD or MicroStation;

  • Experience or knowledge of Synchro/SimTraffic would be an asset;

  • Knowledge of other transportation software and methods (e.g. HCS, CCG, VISSIM, Aimsun) would be beneficial;

  • Good communication and leadership abilities; and

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license.
