WSP is seeking an Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer to support the growth of hydrotechnical engineering services for Power projects in Western Canada. This position can be based in any Major Centre in Western Canada


  • Conduct various hydrotechnical analyses (flood mapping, hydrotechnical design, dam breach analysis)
  • Plan and participate in bathymetric surveys across Western Canada
  • Manage projects, budgets, schedules and resource levels
  • Work on proposals and take part in our business development efforts
  • Interact with clients (participating in workshops, presenting results and findings to various stakeholders)
  • Liaise closely with established technical teams to coordinate engineering work


  • Civil engineer with a hydrotechnical/river engineering background
  • Master’s degree would be an asset
  • P.Eng. designation
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Experienced in hydraulic modelling for riverine and coastal environment (HEC-RAS, TELEMAC, FLOW-3D)
  • Experienced in conducting hydrological analysis (Flood Frequency Analysis, hydrological modelling)
  • Experience and expertise in hydrotechnical design of hydropower projects considered an asset
  • Experience and expertise with ArcGIS considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, strong team spirit, and the ability to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving
