SHERWOOD PARK, AB 

At WSP our Geotechnical and Materials group are providing field and laboratory testing services to position WSP as a leader in the market. We're looking for a Materials Technician to join the Materials team and to be located at our Sherwood Park office. Reporting to the Central Lab Supervisor you will oversee field and laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, soils, and aggregates in accordance with CSA and ASTM test procedures, and providing support to the engineering team.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will Perform concrete field testing and soil compaction testing using a nuclear gauge;
  • Perform aggregate qualification testing programs in accordance with procedures outlined in CSA and ASTM;
  • You will assist the engineering team with site inspections;
  • You will prepare laboratory test reports, and field review reports;
  • You will work closely with a team of engineers and technologists
  • ·You will follow and abide by WSP’s health and safety policy;
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution;
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in materials testing on industrial construction sites, quality assurance and control and construction monitoring;
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions;
  • Minimum of two years continuous experience in concrete and soils testing;
  • CCIL Certified Concrete Testing Technician is an asset;
  • Adaptable to changing work environment;
  • Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or with a team;
  • Good technical writing skills;
  • You must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs;
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
