WSP seeks a Building Science Consultant – Building Condition Assessments to join our growing Building Sciences team, based in Ottawa. Our Building Science, Building Condition Assessments team helps our clients manage their real estate assets by performing building inspections and providing clear and robust capital planning reports. Additionally, we use our trusted advisor status to diagnose and repair building performance problems, write clear and concise professional reports, and design and manage the replacement of building systems. Our work covers a full range of building types, in diverse locations. 


  • Identify client needs and goals to prepare winning proposals for Due Diligence, Capital Planning, Refinancing, Performance Audits, and Reserve Fund Study reports.
  • Review relevant documentation in advance of performing detailed site inspections;
  • Assist in conducting building and property condition assessments to identify short and long-term repair and capital renewal needs;
  • Write and edit building inspection reports in a thorough, concise and organized manner;
  • Monitor and record personal time to meet assigned budgets;
  • Attend client meetings to present findings and solicit feedback;
  • Provide technical advice to clients as required;
  • Make lasting contributions to team and company knowledge management and national quality standard initiatives;
  • Contribute to the firm’s reputation in the market by liaising with clients, attending trade shows, etc.;
  • Attend workshops, classes and courses to develop technical knowledge and expertise;
  • Apply sustainable thinking to each project and our processes.


  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, architecture or any other training deemed equivalent.
  • 5 years+ experience in design, consulting, renewal or advisory capacity for building systems; experience with Building Condition Assessment and Reserve Fund Study reporting is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Sense of initiative, attention to detail.
  • Experience in managing client relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team and manage teams (team spirit).
  • Excellent oral communication
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Bilingualism is an asset but not required
  • Possess a valid full driver’s license.
