WSP is currently seeking a Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our growing Hydro and Dams team in Atlantic Canada. The successful candidate will support the execution of ongoing hydro and dams projects in North America and support business development activities in the region.



  • Oversee hydrotechnical work conducted by junior/intermediate engineers;
  • Provide guidance and support to junior and intermediate hydrotechnical engineers;
  • Provide quality review for hydrotechnical deliverables;
  • Carry out or oversee deterministic and statistical hydrological analyses to establish inflow sequences for hydraulic modeling;
  • Carry out or oversee hydraulic (1D and/or 2D) hydraulic modeling analysis, including dam breach;
  • Carry out or oversee hydraulic design for hydro and dam structures;
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals and business development activities;
  • Establish and maintain contact with clients so as to understand their needs and present technical information, concepts or study results;
  • Assist Management with various aspects of management, business development, etc. for the growth of the business unit;
  • Other related tasks that could facilitate the execution of the project and technical development of the business unit.


  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrotechnical Engineering, or equivalent program;
  • 5+ years experience in hydrotechnical engineering;
  • Experience in hydrological analyses and hydraulic modeling is an asset;
  • Experience in hydraulic design is an asset;
  • Dam safety experience is an asset;
  • Registration and involvement with the Canadian Dam Association is an asset;
  • Registered P.Eng. status in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and/or Newfoundland and Labrador;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team as well as independently;
