WSP is currently seeking a Mechanical Manager, Buildings M&E to join our Buildings Mechanical & Electrical group located at our office in Markham. Reporting to the Lead for Buildings M&E (Transportation projects), this position will be responsible to take a leadership role of an established Buildings Mechanical Transportation group.  


  • Reporting to the Buildings Mechanical, Electrical, Lighting & Controls Director;
  • Manage a well established mechanical team with technical, financial, resourcing and design quality;
  • Hands on manager / engineer with deep involvement in project design, and implementation from Proposal to Construction;
  • Manage and deliver complex infrastructure design and mechanical solutions to customers;
  • Deep involvement with proposals and pursuits, technical leadership, financial & technical project management, assisting the Director with business development, and team performance review;
  • Build, lead, and manage multidisciplinary project teams focused on client specific requirements - projects may include planning, engineering design, construction, and financial management deliverables;
  • Lead, develop and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff; and
  • Collaborate with other Managers, Directors and leaders in other business lines, including Electrical, Lighting, and CAD Managers;
  • Other duties as assigned and required.


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 15+ years of consulting experience;
  • Registered Professional Engineer with PEO;
  • 10+ years of experience with transportation; involving land, water, and aviation projects;
  • Demonstrable experience working on differentproject types, including but not limited to; Design Bid Build (DBB), Design Build (DB/F/M/O), Alliance in Transportation projects;
  • Minimum 5+ years of managing and mentoring technical staff, with very strong technical background;
  • Complete familiarity with Heating – Cooling – Ventilation, Sanitary – Storm – Potable water piping, Natural Gas Distribution, Fire Protection and Suppression Systems (FPS & FSS), Building Automation System (BAS) and integration with SCADA, Engineering software, Codes & Standards such as OBC, CSA, ASHRA, NFPA, ASPE, etc;
  • Fair and unbiased leadership, strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and teamwork skills to deal with internal and external clients, other disciplines and internal Mechanical senior, intermediate, junior engineers and PM’s;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Previous success in a client focused, relationship centred role;
  • Excellence in proposal/report writing;
  • Strong knowledge of Transportation clients such as TTC, GO Mx, VIA, CN, CP, VIVA, Regional Transit Agencies, GTAA, etc;
  • Complete familiarity with Transportation and DB projects requirement such as DRM, PA, PSOS, OSOR, etc;
  • Deep knowledge of Project Management, including but not limited to FP&A, budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, billing, AR, PSR, UR, DLM, etc.
