What you will do:

Tillamook has an exciting opportunity on our finance and accounting team, in a unique role that supports both member owners and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams.

This role is a member of the Patron Accounting team and is responsible for the daily management of processes as they relate to milk receipts for both our member owners and milk received from our other partners. This role will also prepare monthly milk and equity payments, process member withholding assignments, and prepare monthly mailings and communication. This role focuses on responsiveness and accuracy as well as strong, detail-oriented skills, resulting in strong value both on Tillamook’s broader finance team as well as externally.

The Associate Member Accountant is responsible for month-end journal entries, various reporting to cross-functional teams and external partners, and assists in the preparation for semi-annual Market Administrator audits.

A strong candidate will demonstrate acute attention to detail and excellent time management skills, with the ability to work independently with little supervision.

 

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Responsible for validating daily milk receipts from member owners and milk received from other partners.
  • Prepare daily balancing reports for milk receipts and milk usage within TCCA to support Federal Market Administrator Reporting.
  • Build value-add relationships, provide best-in-class customer service to members, business partners, and external parties.
  • Review daily lab imports and work with lab and QA departments to verify correct components and milk quality data.
  • Utilize various tools to deliver lab cards to milk receiving department, including printing, folding, etc.
  • Support continuous improvement of overall space, including preparing weekly error reports to determine areas of grown and/or correction.
  • Responsible for preparing monthly milk payments, advances, and vendor assignments, milk hauler payment, and outside milk payments.
  • Responsible for preparing periodic revolving equity, dividends, and profit-sharing payments as directed by the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and reports for cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Work cross-functionally to prepare member mailings and various other communications.
  • Assist in preparation and review of monthly Market Administrator Reporting.
  • Assist in preparation for semi-annual Market Administrator audit.
  • Assist in preparation of 1099 PATR forms related to milk payments and equity distributions.
  • Maintain database of member leases, installment sales, loan accounts, and equipment loans.
  • Maintain member files and record updates as necessary including changes in business structure, ownership, and verification of current business registration.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Utilize computer with strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. ERP system knowledge is preferred; D365 is a plus. Confidence and aptitude to learn new computer programs such as Madcap (Milk Management Software).
  • Act as a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate acute attention to detail and excellent time management skills, with the ability to work independently with little supervision.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree (or higher) in accounting or related business field is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience (or equivalent) in accounts payable, payroll, accounting on an ERP system is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with cross-functional teams at varying levels of an organization, including internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with the highest ethical standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and proven track record work in various IT systems.
