Bike Park Grom Camp Guide
Full Time positions 5 days a week Monday-Friday for 7-8 weeks, hourly wages.
Do you have a passion for working with resort guests AND a passion for mountain biking? As a Bike Park Grom Camp Guide you’ll get the best of both worlds. This is a great opportunity to work with Telluride’s Bike Park youth guests this summer, having the ability to create amazing experiences and build lasting relationships with guests. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while working with a group of guests are must have skills.
It is strongly recommended that applicants for this position have at least 500 hours of prior guiding/coaching experience. This position is for experienced downhill mountain bikers, you will be expected to proficiently and safely ride Black Diamond freeride trails.
A typical day as a Bike Park Guide includes:
- Attend the Daily Morning Meeting with your supervisor(s) and fellow guides
- Help check in and interact with guests or parents about expectations of the day, any special needs, and how the experience will flow
- Organize your guests pre-ride, including setting expectations for the product they registered for, ensuring their mountain bike and gear are adjusted properly, and providing sunscreen, water and anything else that will set the guest up for a successful ride
- Introduce guests to the equipment they’ll use to learn to mountain bike and help them fall in love with the sport we all love
- Have a strong focus on safety - keep yourself, your guests, and the guests around you safe and healthy
- Attend to all the needs of children to ensure they’re having fun!
- Help the kids boast to their parents about the rad skills they learned during the day.
- Create those “Fridge Moments” – experiences that end up as a picture on the family’s refrigerator when they get home
- Attend all training sessions and be responsible for maintaining your toolkit, first aid pack and bike.
- Leading off-bike activities, crafts, and nature-centered games throughout the week
- Sign out for the day and discuss with the other guides and your supervisor how the day went and what the plan is for tomorrow
No prior mountain bike guiding experience necessary, however a passion for working with guests of all ages, including children, is a must and prior related experience is valued. Our Bike Park Guide program is a tight-knit community, so playing well with children, peers, and supervisors are musts.
Qualifications:
- Must love to mountain bike in the park and on the trails and have the skills to ride black technical and freeride trails
- Passion for working with resort guest, including children
- Strong focus on safety and good decision making
- Ability to take direction and work independently
- “Servant’s Heart” – desire to go out of your way to ensure that every guest you interact with, regardless of age, has the best possible experience in Telluride
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime.
- High school diploma preferred
- Must be willing to work in inclement weather in a physical work environment (yup, we’ll be riding in the sun, rain, and sometimes even in the cold!)
The starting wage for this position is $21.63/hr
