Summary: Leads crew and delegates assigned daily tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following and other duties as assigned.

·         Provide a guest experience that exceeds the guest’s expectations.

·         Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability initiatives.

·         Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures.

·         Knowledge of and adheres to Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act.

·         Coordinates with Snowmaking Coordinator and/or Snowmaking Technician daily.

·         Takes an active role in training the crews.

·         Able to start, operate and shut down snowmaking system to obtain maximum snow production.

·         Reports to work as scheduled for any/all shifts, day or evening, and remains “on-call” throughout the snowmaking and ski season.     

·         Assists Snow Technician with system repairs and maintenance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:     

Responsible for crew during their shift. Responsible for the daily direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience:

Three or more years of snowmaking experience.  Mechanic or Technical schooling helpful.                

Language Skills:    

 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to crew members and Management.               

Mathematical Skills:      

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.         

Reasoning Ability:           

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.       

Computer Skills:          

         Basic computer skills

Other Qualifications:

·         Ability to access all of the Snowmaking system on our ski area.

·         Ability to work on steep terrain.

·         Must be skier or snowboarder.

·         Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.

·         Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 or higher.

·         Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.

·         Must be able to use: snowmobile, pickup truck, ATV, Snow Cat, pumps, compressors, air and water guns, fan guns, snow hose and various hand and power tools.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

The pay rate range for this position is $21 - $25/hr.  DOE
