The Analytical Development Scientist I is an entry level position responsible for execution of sample analysis in support of the development of new pharmaceutical products. This will include in-process, release, and stability testing for pre-commercial products. This position will assist in the assessment and transfer of analytical methods. The Analytical Development Scientist - I will assist in the execution of analytical method verifications and validations.

  • Assist in the transfer of analytical methods from external laboratories for the release of active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products
  • Participate in the training of Quality Control (QC) analysts on the execution of analytical methods
  • Assist analytical investigations in support of Process Development, Production, and QC
  • Perform sample analysis for in-process testing, release and stability testing for pre-commercial programs
  • Calculate analytical test results using spreadsheet or other computer based systems
  • Compile data from testing for development reports as required
  • Validate custom reporting and calculations for analytical data
  • Routine use of laboratory instrumentation such as UV-VIS spectrophotometer, HPLC, GC, IR spectrophotometer, KF Moisture analysis, auto-titrators
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 0 to 3 years of experience preferably in pharmaceutical testing
  • BS or equivalent degree in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Strong technical knowledge in analytical chemistry and instrumentation such as UV-VIS spectrophotometer, HPLC, GC, IR spectrophotometer, KF Moisture analysis, auto-titrators
  • Solid knowledge of chemical principles
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
  • Attention to detail and regulatory compliance
  • Familiar with word processing and spreadsheet development (Word, Excel)
  • People based qualities: Respect to others, positive attitude, team work, quick learner
