ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for executing the preparation, setup, and teardown of banquet areas/meeting spaces, moving furniture and stage platforms, lifting heavy objects such as chairs, tables, and dance floor sections and pushing/pulling carts and all other duties as determined by the Director of Catering and banquets.
  • The Banquet Porter interacts with guest and maintains the cleanliness of work areas and equipment in accordance with Health Department standards & fire codes from the City of Nevada.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Candidate must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral form.
  • Previous experience as a banquet set up porter preferred, but not required.
  • Requires the ability to work consistently with tables and chairs and communicate with other and within a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced and stressful environment with prolonged walking/standing.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. at a time, push/pull up to 400 lbs. at a time; and handle heavy machinery such as pallet jacks, taggers, fork lifts, etc.
  • Candidate must be able to work rotating shifts and be available to be on-call /standby for shift availability.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both in written and oral form.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete reports, correspondence and communicate with guests, Team Members and supervisors. 
  • Has the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, customers, and general public.  
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills are a must.
  • Ability to accurately  add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and  calculate figures and amounts.
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.  In addition to performance of essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of functions to be determined based upon the particular needs of the Hotel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee: must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, team members and others.  
  • Is regularly required to sit; stand; walk and move through all areas of the casino; speak and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  May reach with hands and arms above shoulder level; bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, lift and push/pull. 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
