Job Summary

NTC is seeking a hyper detail-oriented Production Manager/Copyeditor with professional editorial (copyediting/proofreading) and quality assurance skills, expertise in all Google, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat applications, well-demonstrated design experience, and demonstrated project management experience to support the development and maintenance of our library of educator professional learning materials, knowledge products, and video and graphic assets.

The Production Manager/Copyeditor will support the development of new materials as well as the management and updating of our 1,000+ asset library. The manager will work with staff from Program Solutions, Program and Partnerships, and Product Operations/Shared Services to manage annual updating processes, help design new materials and assets, proofread and provide quality assurance to ensure materials are consistent, error-free and compliant with organization style guides, update style guides and conventions, support instructional designers and program delivery staff to access, design, and/or finalize professional development materials, and design materials access portals and communications. This is a creative coordination and production function to support quality, consistency, and ADA accessibility in design and development of all NTC professional learning materials and resources. 

Role responsibilities

  • Manage product development processes that include internal staff (program delivery, product operations) and contracts with external consultants (videographers, graphic designers, etc.) in alignment with annual cycles of new development, revisions, and sales 

  • Proofread and finalize draft materials for dissemination state-of-the-art virtual and face-to-face professional learning materials that are polished and engaging

  • Engage in training and serve as the administrator of the asset management system and design access portals and dashboards and communications that facilitate easy access to materials for internal staff and external clients

  • Provide design templates and plans for repackaging existing products for different client audiences and review and adapt materials for different delivery options

  • Support the development of online, asynchronous content within a learning management system 

  • Oversee contracting, billing, and communications with external vendors (e.g., graphic design, videographers, Brightcove, Widen, etc.) as appropriate

  • Consider client use cases to anticipate dissemination/varied options for delivery 

  • Learn about ADA accessibility and open-source guidelines and coordinate with product operations and technology staff to support product design for accessibility and Creative Commons licensing

  • Manage an annual production calendar that allows for iterative cycles of development, review, and final production

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated design/layout experience (look and feel, consistency, composition, balance) (formal or informal) 

  • Expertise in all Office, Google, and Adobe Acrobat applications 

  • Expert proofreader and natural double-checker with professional copyediting and/or proofreading experience 

  • Willingness to attend training to manage systems and processes that use Widen Digital Asset Management system, Brightcove, PlayPosit, Smartsheet, video editing and other applications

  • Highest level of attention to detail, quality assurance and large-scale efficiencies habits of mind

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn intellectual property/permissions process

  • Quick study, able to take initiative in remote work setting, with appropriate communication/collaboration across a complex system with lots of moving parts 

  • 2-5 years project management experience

  • Remote based role (USA based); some travel required. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of ADA Accessibility criteria

  • Experience developing training products/online learning and/or publications management

  • Understanding of video production

  • Experience working with external contractors
