Reporting to the Manager, People Ops & Talent, this role would support the People Operations team, playing an important role in managing and designing a high-touch candidate experience that reflects New Teacher Center’s brand and culture. A highly organized and detail-oriented Talent & People Ops 
Specialist will be responsible for the full cycle, full service recruiting experience, partnering with hiring managers and internal stakeholders across the organization to identify candidates for open positions, but will build a talent pipeline for future organizational needs.

Responsibilities: The following is an overview of the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. The employee may perform other duties as required.

  • Conduct full lifecycle recruiting including sourcing, screening, scheduling, and guiding candidates from application to offer.
  • Write, post, and monitor job descriptions and update as necessary to attract the most qualified candidates. 
  • Foster and maintain strong relations with New Teacher Center hiring managers to understand hiring needs and define candidate qualifications and appropriate screening process. 
  • Act as the champion and representative of New Teacher Center’s brand and culture to potential candidates and prospective employees. 
  • Utilize our ATS, Taleo, for all candidate review, communication, scheduling, and feedback. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various recruiting techniques, and experience in online/social media recruiting. 
  • Drive the efforts to help continuously diversify our team through sourcing and other unique recruitment strategies to create pathways for employment and opportunity for minority and underrepresented populations. 
  • Use data to monitor hiring success and adjust recruiting strategies accordingly.
  • Create offer letters, maintain applicant tracking system, recruiting reports, and other staffing administration functions as needed. 
  • Conduct new employee onboarding, ensuring the process is engaging, processes are followed, and in compliance with employment laws
  • Maintain personnel records both electronic and paper consistent with HIPAA regulations
  • Support People Operations team with annual open enrollment for benefits and onboarding of new staff members. 
  • Update and maintain the People teams internal intranet page 
  • Work closely with the Payroll and Grants Management team to support the allocation of salaries to NTC departments and grants 
  • Assist with the administration of internal HR training
  • Maintain official staff roster, organization chart, and ad hoc reports as requested
  • Assist with the administration of the performance management system
  • Perform other related duties and work on various special projects as required and assigned


  • Bachelor's degree and either a graduate degree in HR or a PHR certification 
  • 3+ years experience in HR / full lifecycle recruitment 
  • Experience recruiting for high volume and variety of roles and levels 
  • A demonstrated ability to work quickly and effectively in building robust candidate pipelines
  • A proven track record of flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly growing and changing business
  • Experience negotiating offers to close candidates
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Credibility to work at multiple levels in the organization
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and pertinent web-based tools
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations  

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
  • Limited physical effort required
  • Ability to type 60 WPM
  • Grasping, Hearing, Reaching, Repetitive Hand Motions, Sitting, Standing, Stooping, Talking, Typing
  • Minimal annual travel required for attendance at all staff retreats
