educational inequities for systemically underserved students by accelerating educator effectiveness.
Founded by teachers in 1998, NTC works with leaders at all levels of a system to center students’ needs to
transform professional learning. In 2019-20, NTC developed the instructional leadership of over 8,000
instructional leaders to reach 25,000 teachers and impact the learning of 1.8M students in over 360 districts

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Senior Program Consultant or Director, and with support and collaboration from
Program Consultants, the Associate Program Consultant (APC) designs and facilitates professional learning
for and provides infield coaching support to partners; and may provide consultation to partners on program
implementation. Participate in work teams to develop content and services for NTC and/or support internal
learning for colleagues. The Associate Program Consultant is instrumental in enacting NTC’s mission,
theory of change, and Program Theory of Action, with particular focus on these practices:

  • Assess student, school and system needs in order to support systems and schools through inquiry-based consultation
  • Identify and strengthen key conditions to leverage coaching models that actively engage educators in deepening the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the diverse needs of every student
  • Build the capacity of teachers and leaders to understand the needs of underserved students and implement equitable, culturally responsive and standards-aligned curriculum and instruction
  • Support our partners in developing coherence and structures for sustaining the work by including partners inside and outside of the system
  • Co-construct measures of success and collaboratively monitor progress to inform decision-making
  • The Associate Program Consultant also participates in work teams to develop content and services for NTC and/or support internal learning for colleagues. To best support our NTC program team to disrupt barriersto equity, APC’s commit to:

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • The following is an overview of the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. The employee may perform other duties as required.
  • Facilitate a variety of professional learning for teachers, mentors, coaches and school leaders
  • Provide infield coaching to participating partners, depending on the contract
  • Collaborate with other NTC staff in consultation and program planning/implementation with partners
  • Monitor and support partner client program’s progress utilizing a formative program assessment process, via Kiano
  • Communicate regularly with direct supervisor regarding each partner client program’s progress and strategic support in alignment with the contracted scope of work
  • Coordinate with the Program Solutions team and partner to develop, monitor and analyze implementation and impact data
  • Contribute to the design of professional learning content, models, services, development products and services for NTC

Professional Learning Responsibilities

  • Participate in collaborative NTC team meetings
  • Remain current with professional readings and research especially relating to Adult Learning Theory and Common Core State Standards/New Rigorous State Standards
  • Share video of practice
  • Engage in formal formative assessment practices
  • Develop conference proposals and conduct conference presentations
  • Manage personal calendar, travel and job responsibilities
  • Learn to use NTC’s on-line systems including: Learning Zone, Collaborate, TALENT, NTC’s Intranet and Netsuite


  • Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of recent classroom teaching experience in K-12
  • Minimum 3 years facilitating professional learning for adults and/or coaching/mentoring
  • Must be experienced with Common Core State Standards or New Rigorous State Standards
  • Valid teaching and/or administrative certificate/licensure
  • Experience with NTC program or services preferred
  • Knowledge of NTC’s approach to educator development, mission and theory of change, and
  • contributions to the field
  • Knowledge of professional teaching and/or administrative standards, content materials, assessment and methods that improve student achievement in core standard areas
  • Knowledge and experience designing and facilitating professional learning for teachers and/or leaders and coaching educators
  • Demonstrate ability to develop strong relationships and work well within districts and NTC
  • Reflective practitioner demonstrating the ability to use feedback to improve self, program and community
  • Knowledge of school reform, professional learning communities, and the impact of coaching
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and practices
  • Willingness to travel based on office location/client or project assignments – 50% - 70% time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • General knowledge of Google Apps, Adobe Acrobat, virtual meeting software and experience with assessment data desirable

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
  • Limited physical effort required
  • Some national travel (at least 30%)
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm
