Technical Director of Rugby
Melbourne Grammar School is seeking a knowledgeable and energetic Technical Director of Rugby to lead our Rugby program. Working within a culture of excellence, you will utilise your extensive knowledge of rugby to design and lead a whole-school rugby program and philosophy. This role will be pivotal in the delivery of a comprehensive program, mentoring and upskilling coaches.
The Melbourne Grammar Rugby Program places player development, safety and enjoyment front and centre, driven by strong leadership, elite coaching and community engagement. The provision of a sequential and challenging coaching program and skill development for students in Years 5 to 12, including a pathway for elite players, is an essential component of the program. This includes the co-ordination of the pre-season training schedule.
This is a part-time, fixed term opportunity commencing January 2026.
This role will see you
Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Rugby program
Develop and implement a consistent coaching philosophy in a dynamic sporting environment
Assist with recruitment and appointment of coaches into the MGS Rugby Programme
Designing and delivering a comprehensive coaching development program, including workshops, training sessions, mentoring, and providing resources such as manuals and technical information for skills, strategy, nutrition, strength and conditioning
Lead, mentor and support a positive coaching team, ensuring quality and specialist coaching within a collaborative environment
Events and Competitions: Oversee all team preparations during the season and attend all camps and tours
Promote the game of Rugby within the MGS Community.
Must hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Employee Working with Children Check and current first aid certificate
