Position Summary:
The graduate assistant in the program for advanced instructional studies and special education is responsible for providing instructional, research and program technical assistance to the faculty members teaching in the Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Special Education K-12 degree programs. The graduate assistant has a line relationship to the Program Coordinators and the Dean of Teachers College, Henderson.

Computer skills – should have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, emails Microsoft, Google, and the internet.
Writing skills – should be able to compose letters, memos, emails, flyers, and aid with technical writing projects.
Oral communication skills – should be able to clearly express ideas and instructions to students and professionals.
Presentation skills – dress should be neat, comfortable, and appropriate for the tasks at hand. Should be able to use multi-media support when presenting and demonstrating in front of an audience.
Telephone skills – should be able to represent Henderson State University in a professional tone and manner.
Interpersonal
Be able to work effectively with university students, faculty, and the public.
Demonstrate a sense of job responsibility and maturity.
Show evidence of leadership skills.
General Days/Hours:
The graduate assistant will work a minimum of twenty hours per week with a schedule determined in conjunction with the supervisor.
Working virtually and face-to-face in the evenings and on the weekends.
The graduate assistant may be required to attend graduate assistant orientation sessions.

Supervision:
The graduate assistant is to meet with his/her supervisor weekly.
A written agenda of expectations and projects for which the graduate assistant will be responsible may be attached to this job description.
Open and effective communication between the supervisor and graduate assistant is expected.
Minimum Qualifications:
Should be accepted to graduate school before employment. If international student, must have full admission without condition.
Should be enrolled in at least six (6) hours but no more than twelve (12) hours during any semester.
The graduate assistant should maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.00 as a condition of continued employment.
