Title: Network Support Representative
Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $67,250 - $95,400
Schedule: 9/80

Focus: The Network Support Representative is responsible for supporting the Modernization and Innovation organization's efforts in network technology as well as to support service-related items in the network space. This role will work hands on within the site to replace hardware, maintain networks, troubleshoot internet systems and local area networks, and to test, repair and install new cabling. 


Network Support Representative Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage and support LAN and WAN network devices, including installing, configuring, and updating network software, as well as maintaining hardware and network devices.
  • Maintain and enhance well-functioning computer networks, connections, and cabling, ensuring long-term efficiency.
  • Perform troubleshooting for system failures, identify bottlenecks, and proactively fix deficiencies in LAN infrastructure.
  • Oversee contractor-installed cable and hardware, test and configure network hardware, and terminate network and fiber optic cable.
  • Evaluate network performance, find opportunities for improvement, and optimize data exchange between switches, servers, APs, and routers.
  • Collaborate with co-workers to share technical findings and offer comprehensive input, working with departments to deploy and maintain network technologies.
  • Test network protocols to ensure stable and secure connectivity and implement approved network changes according to procedures.
  • Document new network processes and layouts, enhance network security, and maintain up-to-date and accurate network documentation.
  • Stay informed about developments in network infrastructure and technologies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure network stability and functionality.

Network Support Representative Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;  BSC/BA* in computer science, computer engineering, or IT related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years’ networking experience.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing and production process environment.
  • Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP, network technologies and Cybersecurity protocols.
  • Knowledge of Routers, Switches, Access Points and troubleshooting these devices.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco hardware and configuration.
  • Active CCENT or CCNA certification.
  • Must possess technical expertise in IT construction standards and compliance.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Availability to perform/assist with maintenance items outside of business hours.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Location-Specific Requirements: 

  • Valid driver's license.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. 
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. To meet the government-facility requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen.
