Position Summary:

Provide children with an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is educationally enriching, exciting, safe, and nurturing.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the children’s intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth; assist children in their development in interacting with others; foster learning through intentional teaching. Create a program that addresses the specific developmental needs of the children assigned to her care.
  • Implement the adopted curriculum model with a clear understanding of the delivery development of the daily activities; utilizing Work Sampling, the Early Learning Standards, and the Environmental Rating Scales.
  • Assist in the maintenance of appropriate ABC records, COPA WSS, Child Assessment, follow all ABC guidelines and work collaboratively with other employees to achieve and maintain a quality child development program.
  • Complete a wide array of duties on a daily basis with regard to all educational aspects:  Daily safety and health checks, development of daily lesson plans, creative activities, music, outdoor play, and the implementation of incidental teaching.
  • Fulfill the basic needs of the children on a daily basis; feeding, toileting, diaper changing as needed and positive nurturing.
  • Assess and maintain a record of the child’s development growth to assist in the planning of the curriculum activities.
  • Responsible for meeting with parent/guardian and assisting in the planning of the parent/guardian activities and other educational professional activities. Keep parent/guardian up to date on developmental growth.
  • Provide a positive day to day support to other teachers, substitutes, and volunteers, which include sharing daily program plans and discussing and setting goals for children.
  • Physical capabilities: be able to lift 25-35 pounds. Be able to walk, squat, kneel, sit on the floor, see, hear, and speak with children to ensure children’s health, safety and educational potentials are met.
  • Greet parents daily upon entrance and dismissal with only positive communications.
  • Maintain a clean organized environment which includes classrooms, storage, outdoor equipment and desk area.
  • Sit with children during all meal or snack times and use as intentional teaching.
  • Follow proper chain of command when issues arise.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

•Ensure that the classroom is in full compliance with all licensing, safety and health regulations. Report any program concerns to Site Director.
•Maintain records on all children to ensure compliance is met for licensing and educational requirements.

General Days/Hours:

• Monday - Friday, site is opened from 7:30am to 4:00pm.
• Hours may vary. Cannot work more than 28 hours in a week.
• Regular and reliable attendance required.
