Job Overview:   

 

The Global Tax Head will be responsible for providing international tax planning and strategic leadership of the tax function. As the worldwide leader of our tax organization, you will establish the department’s vision and goals. The Global Tax Head is skillful in developing world-wide tax planning strategies, analyzing issues and communicating and collaborating with cross-functional business partners with varying backgrounds and levels of experience.  This role currently includes tax operations within the Americas, China, Europe and Asia. This position will report to the Global Controller. The role is based in Shanghai (can also expand to other cities if we cannot find a candidate in Shanghai)

 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Includes all duties of the Global Tax Head

 

  • Design and develop international tax planning strategies, projects, and implementation
  • Serve as the lead tax expert and adviser, and partner with executives across the organization as well as internal and external, tax, accounting, treasury, and legal experts on business and tax planning matters, compliance reporting and audits, and accounting operations.
  • Design, develop and implement global tax guidelines, policies and processes to ensure consistency across countries.
  • Manage domestic and international income tax compliance, documentation and reporting functions specifically, the annual and quarterly global income tax provision process, the identification and analysis of local country tax issues.
  • Advise on international tax aspects of business and international expansion, including cross-border transactions involving multiple tax jurisdictions.
  • Manage relationships with global tax authorities, compliance providers and external tax advisors.  Manage tax consulting budget globally.
  • Oversee the coordination/preparation of all international income tax returns, including a review of the return to provision calculations to identify the tax impact to the financial statements.
  • Oversee all direct and indirect taxes, actively monitoring tax legislative and judicial actions, analyze potential impacts/benefits, and implement mitigation or action plans for the Company.
  • Develop transfer pricing strategy and periodic review process.
  • Assist projects of M&A activities, due diligence and any strategic initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain readiness for future Initial Public Offering (IPO)

  • Lead technical review and research of complex tax return issues

 

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Finance, Accounting, or related field

    • CPA or equivalent required;

 

 

  • Experience
    • 8+ years of experience as CN/US and international tax experiences or equivalent.

    • 3+  years of relevant work experience in a global company in leading a tax organization.

    • Relevant experience in CRO or Life Sciences is preferred

    • Big 4 experience a plus

 

  • Skills/Competencies

o   Extensive China / U.S. Federal, State and International income tax and transaction tax knowledge, including a working knowledge of transfer pricing.

  • Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives with tax strategies, and effectively communicate tax requirements to executive leadership.
  • Strong project management, written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture of excellence, integrity and accountability.
