Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity aims to inspire everyone who attends our campus – artists, leaders, and thinkers – to unleash their creative potential.
We recognize, with deep respect and gratitude, our home on the side of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain. In the spirit of respect and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Banff area, known as “Minihrpa” (translated in Stoney Nakoda as “the waterfalls”) and the Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda) – comprised of the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney Nations – as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Blackfoot Confederacy comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Shuswap Nations, Ktunaxa Nations, and Metis Nation of Alberta, Rockyview District 4. We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play here, help us steward this land, and honour and celebrate this place.
We’re looking for someone who is able to complete Banff Centre training within a prescribed timeframe in order to successfully attain an Engineer 5th class certification. Financial assistance may be available as per Banff Centre learning agreement guidelines. We are looking for someone with an interest and aptitude in mechanical systems to join our team of experienced tradespeople.
The 5th class power engineer (Building operator B) is a key member of the Physical Facilities department and will work to keep our campus and facilities operating smoothly. This position oversees the running maintenance of pumps, motors, fans, air filters, and other equipment related to heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, identifying any equipment in need of repair or replacement. The power engineers maintain a recorded history of maintenance for each piece of equipment at Banff Centre, preparing written reports of defects requiring attention, and sourcing and ordering replacement parts and materials as needed. The power engineers are also responsible for testing water and performing chemical treatment of all water systems outside of the main plant. Tasks and work locations across campus will vary daily, so the Power Engineers are expected to prioritize their daily work and work efficiently.
