What you will do:
The Consumer and Market Insights (CMI) Manager – Shopper Insights Vertical Lead supports the Sales, Brand/Category Management, Marketing, and R&D teams by leading research and translating data from various syndicated and primary research sources into a seamless and compelling retail customer-facing narrative to drive business outcomes. This role leads the Shopper Insights research and strategic narrative vertical within CMI, including functional leadership responsibilities and people development, and has retailer account support responsibility. This is an analytical role that requires excellent advanced analytics, presentation, project management, and relationship-building skills. Attention to detail is critical. This role also requires the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with timely delivery of assigned tasks.
Here’s a day in the life:
Partner with account teams, Customer Development, Category Management, and Marketing to develop retailer-facing presentations that align Customer and Tillamook business priorities.
Lead and develop a high-performing junior insights and analytics team across the CMI function, including career path architecture and competency development and evaluation.
Foster a people-first culture focused on continuous learning, innovation, and excellence, ensuring the team is dedicated to delivering high-quality insights.
Uplevel analytic prowess across the organization through regular insights share-outs and coaching.
Demonstrate excellent ability to anticipate and hear business questions and develop platforms to efficiently and effectively drive data-informed action through ruthless focus and out-of-the-box thinking.
Utilize third-party data (e.g., Circana, CRX, Nielsen, 84.51, Symphony, etc.) to analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape ensuring the business is being guided by data-backed and consumer-inspired decisions.
Demonstrate excellent ability to seamlessly integrate data inputs from disparate primary and secondary data sources into intuitive, accurate, and insight-enabling reporting platforms to drive action in support of business objectives for both internal and external audiences.
Demonstrate continuous elevation of CMI function through advanced analytics and tool development.
Manage syndicated and primary research vendor relationships, negotiating rates and deliverables.
Demonstrate excellent problem-solving ability.
Demonstrate uncompromising quality and data integrity.
Demonstrate excellent ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with timely delivery of assigned tasks.
Demonstrate excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Demonstrate advanced skills in Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Demonstrate advanced skills in primary and secondary research planning, design, analysis, and presentation.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including listening skills.
Act as a team player and able to interact with staff at all levels of the company, maintaining effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
Stay informed of the latest trends in business intelligence, data analytics, research and strategy, the FMCG sector, macro-and-socio-economic, and consumer shopping and consumption behaviors.
Interest in consumer insights, sales enablement, strategic planning, building processes, team building, and evolving your skillset.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in cultural anthropology, sociology, psychology, statistics, marketing, or a related field.
7+ years in market research and/or data science.
Advanced skills in primary and secondary research planning, design, analysis, and presentation.
Experience and passion for leading and developing people and functional capabilities.
Experience delivering presentations to executives, sales, marketing, and/or category/brand teams.
Experience with Nielsen, Circana, Symphony, and/or 84.51 data preferred.
Experience in the food and beverage (CPG) industry a plus.
