What you will do:

The Automation Technician will utilize automation / operational technology proficiencies and experience, will program, troubleshoot and repair control systems used for Dairy processing plant equipment, packaging equipment and supporting utility systems. Other responsibilities will include but not be limited to, assisting in maintaining software/hardware revision to accommodate upgrades, recommending and implementing improvements to current machine and equipment controls and assisting in implementing select capital improvements.

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment with a focus on automated control systems and utilizing operational technology. Complies with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Maintains and performs troubleshooting of PLC and Process Controls to include associated instrumentation equipment.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments.  Uses a variety of control system interfaces, electrical test equipment, hand and power tools and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production, process and utilities control systems during plant operations and performs repairs of production, process and utilities equipment during scheduled shutdown service periods.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required automated maintenance and service
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public
  • Communicate effectively
  • Act as a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company
  • Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 to 3 years related experience
  • Associate degree or trade school certification preferred
  • Experience utilizing hardware & software that monitors and controls devices, processes, and infrastructure in automated industrial settings.
