Position: Staff Attorney

Role:

The Staff Attorney will report to the Chief Legal Officer and provide support on contract-related matters and other legal tasks as needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in understanding established procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review and redline owner–design consultant agreements and other miscellaneous contracts.

  • Proofread, and copy-edit contracts and other legal documentation for accuracy, clarity, and consistency

  • Maintain and organize digital and physical legal files in accordance with established recordkeeping procedures.

  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer in managing disputes and claims involving the firm’s project designs including coordinating documentation and internal communications.

  • Administer and maintain legal databases to ensure accurate tracking of contracts, claims, and related matters.

  • Provide legal support to Design, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, and Public Relations teams on a range of contract and compliance matters.

 

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Must be actively licensed and authorized to practice law to be considered for the Staff Attorney role.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably with contract drafting and negotiation in Interior Design, Architecture or other AEC related firms.

  • Strong contract review and redlining skills with attention to detail and risk analysis.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard contract forms, including AIA, FIDIC, and other design and construction agreements.

  • Strong understanding of insurance, risk allocation, and indemnification provisions within commercial contracts.

  • Working knowledge of copyright, patent, and trademark law as they relate to art, architecture, and product design.

  • Litigation experience is not required; however, prior exposure to dispute resolution, claims management, or litigation support is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong reading, drafting, and editing capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal with the ability to work effectively across departments.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

  • High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive matters.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Experience with the Deltek platform is highly desirable.

 

 

General Information:

This is a Full Time – In Studio position.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience ranging from $130,000 to $200,000 excluding bonuses and other benefits. This is a good faith estimate based on the expectations as laid out in the job description.  The position offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, 401k plan, and yearly performance reviews.
