RCA is currently seeking a Business Development Manager. We are looking for a driven and empathetic business development specialist to join our team, someone who thrives in building long-term, meaningful relationships and values trust-based sales approaches. This position can be supported remotely.
Job Description
This individual will be responsible for developing new markets and establishing lasting and growing relationships with new customers within a designated territory in the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech industries. Experience with consultative sales in a business-to-business environment is important. Additionally, experience working with pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturers is preferred. As a sales representative with a focus on relationship and trust building, you will play a key role in engaging with potential and existing customers to understand their needs, provide tailored solutions, and foster long-lasting partnerships. This is not a transactional sales role but rather an opportunity to create value for customers by cultivating trust and nurturing relationships over time.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients through regular communication, active listening, and personalized interactions
- Confident selling to C-level and senior executives focusing primarily on establishing, building and maintaining business relationships with new and existing clients
- Responsible for strategically selling services to startup, mid-size and multi-national manufacturers within designated territory with a strong focus on client satisfaction
- Ability to listen, ask relevant questions and analyze customer needs in order to understand their unique challenges and goals, offering tailored solutions and insights that align with their objective
- Develop, present and negotiate business proposals with a goal to guide clients through the entire sales cycle—from initial contact to post-sale follow-up—ensuring a seamless and professional experience
- Stay up to date with industry trends, and competitor offerings to provide the most relevant and valuable solutions to clients
- Attendance at client meetings as well as industry tradeshows and networking events as appropriate
- Act as RCA’s key representative in the territory by creating and maintaining new and old relationships through sales calls and other relevant means of communication. Utilize company marketing initiatives to find and nurture new opportunities
Qualifications
- Oral / Written Communication – Ability to understand the needs of RCA as well as those of the client and propose a solution that meets those needs.
- Problem Solving- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to offer creative, customer-centric solutions
- Organization - Display the capability to handle several tasks simultaneously with the ability to prioritize appropriately to ensure all tasks are completed.
- Production - Understand the needs of a consultative sales-oriented job function and perform appropriate actions to complete tasks and/or projects in a timely fashion.
- Reporting – Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM to manage client activity and proposal process.
- Solutions-based selling experience required
- Confidence in building trust and relationships with clients and the ability to identify selling opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working in a team environment
- Attention to detail and the ability to successfully negotiate contracts
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team to ensure proper execution and project completion
- Fundamental understanding of the requirements of the life science industry in both the US and world markets
- 5+ years of solutions-based selling experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology field (preferred) or other related industry
- Education - Undergraduate or advanced college degree in a business-related or scientific field
- Travel - open to travel as needed (up to 25%)
