ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The City of Cambridge Traffic, Parking, and Transportation (TP+T) Department supports the safety and health of the Cambridge community by creating and sustaining a high-quality street and parking system that supports a range of transportation options for all those who live, travel, and park in Cambridge.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field required. Five to eight years of experience in the transportation engineering field preferred. Must be able to conduct tasks with little supervision and have good oral and written communication skills. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to convey complex technical information to the public in a timely and professional manner. Ability to understand traffic engineering plans.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Excellent computer skills required and familiarity with Synchro, AutoCAD, and GIS strongly preferred. Mass Class D driver’s license required. Experience with riding a bicycle or micromobility device preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves frequent site visits, requiring travelling to and through active construction zones. Work indoors is in a professional office setting. Work outdoors includes construction sites and congested city roadways under all weather conditions Supervising Engineer may adjust work hours to cover operational needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Position is in-person, with hybrid schedule/telework allowed subject to the provisions of the City’s Telework Policy.
