Valorous is seeking Senior Computer Scientist to support its federal client in Charlottesville, VA.

Your Impact:

Responsibilities:

 Conducts all-source analysis and analytical production by analyzing friendly and adversary biometric systems to understand their capabilities, vulnerabilities. Sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science and employs experience such as penetration testing, ethical hacking, or reverse engineering to guide research and analysis of software, hardware, networks components, security protocols, cloud-based services, and other aspects of cyber-enabled platforms-specifically those performing automated video analysis, biometric verification, or other security-related identity management services.  Competence with programming languages and tools (e.g. C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Microsoft.NET, LinQ, gRPC), protocols (e.g. WS-Biometric Devices, RTP/RTSP, webRTC, HTTPS Live Streaming) database management systems (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, Postgre SQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch), web services (RESTful and SOAP  API), cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCS), network components (e.g. routers, switches, web/database/mail/DNS/proxy servers, IDS/IPS, firewalls, DMZs) as well as product development tools and concepts (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Git, Jira, Agile, DevOps and CI/CD). Familiarity with machine and deep learning development practices, frameworks/libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras), employment, computing requirements and limitations when applied to computer vision, big data analysis and other complex tasks demanding Artificial Intelligence-like capabilities.

• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the labor category activities required to meet mission requirements.

• Demonstrates mastery of qualitative and quantitative analytic methodologies and pursue developments in academia or other fields that affect tradecraft methodology. Demonstrates ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique research approaches that enable rigorous assessments to address and contribute to high-level tasks.

• Demonstrates in-depth analysis of analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and intra-IC boundaries and clearly articulates key findings.

• Demonstrates ability to work independently and with minimal to no oversight.

• Demonstrated ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions; routinely tests analytic rigor of analytic products.

Desired Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience related to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years with no Bachelor's degree. 5+ years of experience related to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years with a Bachelor's degree. 2+ years of experience should include or be similar to using vulnerability scanning and exploit analysis tools/suites such as Kali Linux, Nmap, OpenVAS, Metasploit, Wireshark, Burp Suite, Qualys, Nessus or Maltego-with a CEH, CompTIA PenTest+, OSCP, GPEN, CISSP or other similar certification highly desired.  Experience with passive and active reconnaissance techniques and to aid in vulnerability assessments including the use of tools such as Censys, Shodan, w3af, OWASP ZAP, Shcheck, Netcat, Tcpdump, as well as Ghidra, IDA Pro or other software reverse engineering tools.  

Desired Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or in an area related to the LCAT from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Or a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
