Overview

The Surgical Technologist Lead will prepare and sterilize operating rooms, equipment and instruments prior to any surgical procedure. This position will also prepare patients for surgery and assist surgeons during surgical procedures helping to execute the surgery as efficiently as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Prepare and organize the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures

·         Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings

·         Follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines

·         Participate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis

·         Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies

·         Track surgical supplies.

·         Inspect, replace, and sterilize medical instruments

·         Provide surgeons and patients with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment

·         Preparing patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting incision sites.

·         Providing support during surgery by passing instruments and other supplies.

·         Staying up-to-date on surgical technology, medical terminology, and procedures.

·         Working well with surgeons, surgical assistant, nurses and general surgical team.

·         Coordinate with the Lead Sterile Processing Technician to optimize instrument space and organization

·         Assist with the identification of under utilized or not needed instrumentation, and advocate for additional needed instrumentation

·         Facilitate orientation of new hire/traveling technologist and assist with recruitment

·         Maintain productivity amongst the surgical technologist team

·         Maintain a certified status

·         Update surgical preference cards as needed

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or experienced Surgical Technologist.
