Overview

Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills and performs various functions within the Patient Access Department, which include but are not limited to pre-registration, registration for different services, switchboard, monitoring different systems, and learning knowledge of procedures and operations. Ensures outstanding patient experience while proactively reducing financial loss. Demonstrates behaviors outlined in Gifford’s Core Values and supports Gifford’s Mission and Vision.

Duties and Responsibilities    

  •          Accurately pre-registers, register, and checks-out patients. Provide empathetic and compassionate customer service to all patients and visitors
  •          Performs insurance verification; updates patients' medical records to ensure accuracy
  •          Performs point-of-service collections; follows EMTALA regulations for Emergency Department patients
  •          Places patients on the Emergency Department Tracking Board and monitors
  •          Proactively connects patients unable to meet their financial responsibilities with Patient Financial Counseling 
  •          Performs reconciliation of cash drawer
  •          Reviews orders for accuracy, and completeness
  •          Maintains excellent customer service skills
  •          Completes other tasks as assigned by GHC Leadership
  •          This position requires some weekend coverage

Requirements

  • Two years of front end/Customer service experience preferred.
