The Licensed Nursing Assistant will be responsible for assisting in coordination of nursing care for patients, serving as a patient advocate, assisting in providing patient and family teaching in a multidisciplinary health care setting. S/he will provide direct care to assigned patients in conformance with hospital policies, professional standards, physician orders, and approved plan of care. The nursing process will be utilized in the provision of patient care. S/he will function within limits of Vermont Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, guided by Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Delivering / setting up and assisting with meals as needed and clearing of trays, dishes and food after meals.

·         Follow treatment plans and protocols under the direction of a Nurse to include but not limited to Foley care, application of creams, powders, positioning, protective wear, vital signs and other appropriate task that is within the individual’s skill set.

·         Meet the psychosocial and physical needs of the geriatric client.

·         Provide ADLs such as but not limited to (bathing, toileting, feeding, mouth care, ambulation, etc…)

·         Transporting Residents

·         Resident transferring and lifting, following safe lift practices.

·         Charting (ADLs, I&O, BMs, etc…) in appropriate places such as flow sheet via computer or handwritten as appropriate for department. 

·         Communication needs to be clear, concise and complete.

·         Attendance within organizational / departmental expectation.

·         Flexibility to work varying shifts (days, evening, nights), schedules, holidays and weekends as needed including but not limited to every other weekend.

·         Maintain required competency training via in-services and education provided by institution.

Requirements

  • LNA from credited program with current LNA license in VT
  • BLS certification (current/renewed every 2 years).

This position is 32 hours biweekly.
