Scientist / Senior Scientist, Reagent Development

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a role as Scientist/Senior Scientist to join the Reagent Development team. The successful candidate will demonstrate an attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members as well as with other inter-department stake holders.  The candidate will support efforts to develop, validate, and launch new NGS library prep products and sequencing kits. The candidate will also participate the effort solving the problems that customer facing.

Based in San Jose, California, this position will report to the Senior Manager, Reagent Development. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Develop new NGS library prep and Sequencing workflows for Complete Genomics’ sequencing platform.
  • Trouble shooting the problems for NGS. Design and conduct experiments to determine underlying reaction mechanisms, cause and effect, failure modes, and optimization of the workflow and experimental setup.
  • Design and execute experiment plans to demonstrate technical feasibility.
  • Overcome technical difficulties with creative ideas.
  • Design and execute new product verification and validation plans.
  • Support new product tech transfer activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Plan and execute experiments, in-depth analysis, reporting of these results through documentation, presentations.

 

WHAT YOUR EDUCATION LOOKS LIKE

  • Ph.D. degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, related field.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING US

  • Hands-on experimental experience in molecular biology. Preferrable in genomics, or enzymology.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot failures through experimental design and execution.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to manage multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute priorities and timelines.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with customer. Experience in Sequencing-based technology development.
  • Deep understanding of a wide variety NGS library preparation workflows.
  • Proven ability to write SOPs and train others to successfully perform the work.

 

HOW YOU WILL BE REWARDED

The base salary range for this position is $114,000 to $144,000. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. The actual compensation paid to any individual for this position may vary depending on factors such as experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
