Reports to: Director of Field and Sales Support

Department: FSE USA

Location: US Northeast Region including the Greater Boston Area, Maryland (MD), Virginia (VA), Delaware (DE), Washington D.C., New York City (NYC) and Pennsylvania (PA).

Job Summary

As the Field Service Engineer, reporting directly to the Director of Field and Sales Support, you will be responsible for providing onsite and remote service and support to customers. As a Field Service Engineer, you will also be responsible for providing feedback and service knowledge to other departments to drive improvements and share information on Instrumentations. The Field Service Engineer will perform service activities at clinical and scientific research sites according to approved written instructions, and documents the activities performed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) Instruments according to documented instructions.
• Install and remove NGS Instruments at clinical sites according to documented instructions.
• Document activities, as required.
• Coordinate service activities with site personnel, as needed.
• Provide technical phone support to customers.
• Communicate and help resolve technical issues in preparation for the install of the NGS Instruments.
• Train others to perform servicing activities on NGS Instruments.
• Generate service instruction documentation.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Support manufacturing, as needed.
• Other duties, as assigned.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/science field or equivalent experience.
• Exceptional customer service skills and professionalism. 
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve malfunctions in complex electromechanical systems.
• Previous experience with NGS instrumentation preferred.
• Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to follow procedures without deviation.
• Up to 70% travel.
  

The base salary range for this position is $56,000 to $75,000. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. The actual compensation paid to any individual for this position may vary depending on factors such as experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer
