Senior Audio Producer – Sawa Sudan


PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sawa seeks an experienced and passionate journalist and Senior Audio Producer -Sawa Sudan to spearhead the creation of compelling digital audio journalism. The candidate must have rich experience telling audio stories in a journalistic setting, who is also a keen observer of the news with strong editorial judgment and the ability to assemble audio stories that will captivate a regional audience.

Experience in program development, launching new shows, and overseeing small teams is an asset. We seek someone who is brimming with ideas, willing to take creative risks and able to work with digital reporters and help guide them in the finer points of how to tell a great audio story.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and shape the highest quality audio journalism at Sawa, collaborating with newsroom teams and colleagues abroad.
  • Identify, develop, and execute captivating audio stories that deeply resonate with regional audiences.
  • Adapt seamlessly to shifting newsroom priorities, effectively handle breaking news, and consistently deliver exceptional work within tight deadlines.
  • Cultivate imaginative and impactful narratives, guiding digital reporters in crafting compelling audio stories.
  • Actively contribute to news meetings, proactively identifying stories with strong audio potential, and collaborating with editors and reporters to produce, write, and master audio-centric stories.
  • Oversee the development and successful launch of new audio programs, ensuring meaningful engagement with the target audience.
  • Provide invaluable guidance and support to program hosts, enabling them to showcase their best performances.
  • Arrange, record, direct, and produce interviews in both studio and field settings, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Skillfully write, edit, and collaborate on scripts for a variety of audio projects.
  • Manage the conception, planning, and production of exceptional audio shows and episodes.
  • Assist in promoting and marketing shows, including creating synopses, social media content, and other innovative assets.



OTHER DUTIES:

  • The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree in mass communication, journalism, or a related field
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in content strategy, social media, or analytics
    • Demonstrate an unwavering passion, extensive knowledge, and significant experience in delivering top-notch social media content
    • Exhibit exceptional communication skills in both verbal and written Arabic and English
    • Possess a profound understanding of various online and social media analytics and insights
    • Achieve proven success and substantial growth through experimentation and exploration of new platforms to enhance a brand or publication's online presence
    • Showcase a strong grasp of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics
    • Display knowledge of various online marketing channels
    • Excel at crafting captivating yet meaningful headlines and engaging social media content
    • Proficient in utilizing social media insights and popular tools like Hootsuite, Crowd Tangle, and Social Bakers
    • Demonstrate flexibility in accommodating diverse work schedules to support a 24/7 news environment.
