Senior Audio Producer – Sawa Iraq


PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sawa seeks an experienced and passionate journalist and Senior Audio Producer -Sawa Iraq to spearhead the creation of compelling digital audio journalism. The candidate must have rich experience telling audio stories in a journalistic setting, who is also a keen observer of the news with strong editorial judgment and the ability to assemble audio stories that will captivate a regional audience.

Experience in program development, launching new shows, and overseeing small teams is an asset. We seek someone who is brimming with ideas, willing to take creative risks and able to work with digital reporters and help guide them in the finer points of how to tell a great audio story.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and shape Sawa's premier audio journalism by collaborating with newsroom teams and colleagues overseas.
  • Identify, develop, and execute compelling audio stories that resonate with regional audiences.
  • Adapt seamlessly to shifting newsroom priorities, proficiently handling breaking news and consistently delivering superior work within tight deadlines.
  • Cultivate innovative narratives and provide expert guidance to digital reporters in crafting impactful audio stories.
  • Actively participate in news meetings, proactively identifying stories with audio potential and collaborating with editors and reporters to produce, write, and master audio-centric stories.
  • Oversee the development and successful launch of new audio programs, ensuring maximum engagement from the audience.
  • Offer valuable guidance and unwavering support to program hosts, enabling them to showcase their talents and deliver exceptional performances.
  • Skillfully arrange, record, direct, and produce interviews in both studio and field settings.
  • Write, edit, and refine scripts for various audio projects, consistently maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Manage the conception, planning, and production of audio shows and episodes, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Assist with the promotion and marketing of shows, leveraging creative skills to create synopses, social media content, and other engaging assets.



OTHER DUTIES:

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Journalism, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in content strategy, social media, or analytics
  • Display a deep passion, extensive knowledge, and significant experience in delivering social media content
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of various online and social media analytics and insights
  • Achieve proven success and growth by experimenting with and exploring new platforms to enhance a brand or publication's social media presence
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and proficiency in Google Analytics
  • Possess familiarity with online marketing channels
  • Excel in writing catchy yet meaningful headlines and engaging social media content overall
  • Display proficiency in utilizing social media insights and top tools, including Hootsuite, Crowd Tangle, and Social Bakers
  • Adaptability to accommodate flexible work schedules to support a 24/7 news environment.
