Audio Editor – SAWA


PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Audio Editor is responsible for enhancing, cleaning, and repairing audio, as well as mixing, dubbing, and adding sound effects. They collaborate closely with audio producers and content creators to ensure the quality and effectiveness of all Sawa Digital audio output.

The role entails capturing, organizing, and managing audio sources in order to produce a polished final product. This may include editing out mistakes or unwanted sounds, improving dialogue, and enhancing audio quality.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Record, edit, mix, and master audio for all digital content, including news bulletins, audio shows, episodic content, and live streams.
  • Edit and enhance raw audio files by removing noise, glitches, inconsistencies, and mistakes.
  • Ensure exceptional technical quality of all audio output.
  • Collaborate with editorial and creative teams to maintain sound, tone, and style of content.
  • Master audio for various platforms such as websites, apps, podcasts, and social media.
  • Maintain consistent audio elements and quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Create immersive sound design elements to elevate overall production value.
  • Produce preliminary and final edits of audio content.
  • Collaborate closely with production team to meet project deadlines.
  • Contribute to sound design and music composition.
  • Supervise, troubleshoot, and support recording of virtual and field interviews.
  • Stay up-to-date with tools, technologies, software, and best practices for digital and field audio recording.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of experience in audio editing and mixing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of audio engineering principles and techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience in sound design and music composition.
  • Experience with digital editing.
  • Knowledge of live streaming and digital streaming.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced news environment.
